• Lifelong Traveler| Human-Centered-Designer| Entrepreneur | Technology Artist | Historian | Dancer

  • A Californian of Chinese and Russian ancestry, Elizabeth L Ulanova simultaneously worked and studied abroad in Asia for almost 3 years after finishing high school early. With professional experience as a privatized international liaison officer, Chongqing New's English editor-in-chief, and a corporate trainer for China's largest education facility - Elizabeth returned to the US beginning 2016. Thus after relocating to Boston, Elizabeth developed website startups in adjacent to being her firm’s first ever entrepreneur-in-residence. With interests in human-centered design at the intersection of architecture, visual arts, and technology - Elizabeth transferred to Columbia University in New York for her BA beginning September 2016. She currently serves as Columbia's head delegate on the Ivy Council.

Elizabeth's hobbies range from a lifelong love of traveling to writing, digital and fine arts with obsessions of dance, history, vintage postcards, and real estate. She is also an extreme advocate of mental health awareness, and is primarily interested in the tabooed stories that are often concealed, hidden, and disguised.

  • Why Human-Centered-Design?

Artists make the intangible, tangible. They transform emotions - anger, hurt, euphoria into visible pieces of art.

Architects inspect the environment around us - rendering empty space into some of the most memorable landmarks to the human eye.

Both professions are arguably traditional, practical, and timeless disciplines whom have since the dawn of time placed the human as the focal point of their creation.

Now, technology is the future - non-traditional, unconventional and designed to convenient our lives whilst pushing our computational limits. But yet, can the iPhone be compared to the Mona Lisa? And can Samsung transfix us like Monet?

Therefore, I yearn to craft technology with the training and perspective of both an artist and an architect. Transforming and creating new forms of tech that combines emotionless, but innovative computations with the abstractions and passions conveyed through traditional art.
